Our next Collab Session is with the one and only James Stapley, chef owner of Kika, Wanaka.

James ran the Pegasus Bay kitchen between 2005 to 2010 with incredible results including being awarded ‘NZ’s Best Casual Dinning Restaurant’ at the Cuisine Restaurant of the Year Awards, back when there was only 2 awards given for the whole country!

London trained, James has worked in some top restaurants both here and abroad. Highlights being London Hilton on Park Lane, head chef of Selfridges Premier Restaurant and executive chef at the Relais & Chateaux, Whare Kea Lodge.

He opened Kika 4 years ago, the restaurant has hit the Cuisine Top 100 every year and last year got on the ‘Worlds 50 Best Discovery’ list as one of the best new restaurants in the world and ‘50 Best Restaurants Outside of Auckland’ by Metro Magazine. Kika’s philosophy is global sharing plates using the best local and sustainable produce available.

Kika’s head chef Sam Cooper who also has impressive experience in several Michelin Star restaurants including Gidleigh Park in the UK will be cooking with James on the day.
