Friday 14th July
We love our local truffles …..
For our 3rd year in a row we are celebrating our abundance of local truffles by pairing up with Gareth Renowden and the cute and famous truffle huntress Rosie The Beagle from Limestone Hills to offer you a day out in North Canterbury.
Either be part of a full day of truffle goodness or join us just for the five course truffle lunch matched with aged wines from our library.
Your chance to see the talented Rosie the Beagle, with truffle grower Gareth Renowden, hunt for truffles at Limestone Hills. Rosie will sniff around Gareth’s bianchetto white truffle and Burgundy truffle trees, and show you how she finds the truffles you are going to enjoy for lunch at Pegasus Bay, while Gareth explains how truffles are grown and why they are such an exciting gourmet delicacy. $200 pp.
- Including return bus from Christchurch,
(bus leaves Christchurch 9.30am and returns approx 5pm to Christchurch)
- Morning tea on arrival at Limestone Hills
- An educating and exciting truffle hunt with Gareth and Rosie
Please note the truffieres (truffle plantations) are a short walk from the farmhouse, and the grass may be long and/or wet so you should bring suitable footwear.
- Five courses of different truffle varieties matched with our aged library wines at Pegasus Bay Winery.
Or join us only for lunch at 12.45pm at Pegasus Bay Winery. You will dine with and meet some of the Donaldson family and Gareth and we can enjoy a long leisurely lunch and talk a little about the truffles and wines. $165 pp. (own transport required).
